Allen Kanerva holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Security and Peacebuilding. He is a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces. He has had extensive experience as a trainer and manager of peacebuilding courses.

Allen is a generalist with a passion for intense, time constrained environments. He brings to any project a broad range of military, corporate, non-profit, and crown corporation experience. In those areas Allen has contributed to the development and implementation of policy, procedures, and tactical and strategic plans.

Allen has extensive experience in organizational security, threat risk assessments and hostile environment training.

His work has included security and threat risk analysis and mitigation, both in North America for critical infrastructure protection and internationally for clients such as NGOs, UNMIS, Reuters and the European Commission.

Previously, as the Managing Director, Business Continuity Practice for a North American risk management firm he lead risk assessment, security planning and business continuity services to a wide range of clients including the largest mining investment in Canada, critical infrastructure protection and international environmental consulting firms.

Most recently, he has supported clients working in East Africa, specifically Kenya, Somalia, Southern Sudan and Somaliland.
